Meet the Siberian Huskies
Inca
The little sneaky one, the smart one, the clever one and the smallest of our pack. Inca is fun loving and cute. She is loyal to a fault and will not go to bed willingly unless all her people are headed to bed as well. Inca is still envious of her sister Maya’s predatory prowess, and continues to patrol the yard looking for prey in the hopes of finding a bunny some day.
Maya
The Ten Thousand Dollar dog - this girl has been amazing - two knee surgeries and two abdominal surgeries (one to remove an entire corn cob from her angry intestines). Maya is fearless and sweet. She is a master huntress. Her predatory conquests include birds, bunnies, snakes, and lizards. She feels compelled to protect her sister Inca, even when at play. She is the poster-child for puppy weight loss having gone from an unhealthy 80 pounds to an athletic 58 pounds. Thank heavens for the successful knee surgeries - they have changed her life for the better.
Sable
The Love Pig - Sable wanted to make sure she got all of the love and attention. She was the oldest one in our pack and by far the most affectionate and loving. This was her forever home after three previous homes! When she felt like you were simply not doing enough scratching, she had a low grumble, almost like the purr of a cat. She was incredibly happy, healthy, and a wonderful addition to the pack. Sadly, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a battle with cancer. We miss her!
Staley
The Boy - The Monster - The Bear. Staley was named after the Chicago Bears Mascot and lives up to his name by being very protective of his mom. Bear picked us as his third family by jumping into our truck and telling us he was ready to go home. On the way home he also stepped on the electric window button and I was so afraid he was going to jump out of the car! Staley loved the daily routine and could get grumpy without his W-A-L-K and lots of husky cuddle time. He definitely wanted to be the Boss. When walking, he would get quite cross when not in the lead. Sadly, he crossed the Rainbow Bridge after an undiagnosed tumor on his heart. We miss him!
Daisy
Our Daisy, who we lovingly refer to as Farm Dog, is anything but a delicate flower. She is very affectionate and loving, but frankly doesn’t know her own strength. When she sleeps, she will snore loudly, and when not asleep, she wants to lick your hands and arms just to demonstrate her love. Daisy is a wonderful addition to our pack and is content to lay in the living room and chew a good bone. We have discovered that she does take exception to the squeaky part of a dog toy. She will promptly rip open the toy, remove the plastic squeaker, and present it proudly to you. Mind you, the dog toy is a bit worse for the wear!
Gilroy
Gilroy (which means “red head”), or Gilly for short, is a playful addition to the pack. He is blind in one eye, but that does not stop him from being a rambunctious husky! He runs, jumps, and will shake any misbehaving stuffed toy vigorously. Gilroy is an amazingly sweet and sensitive young male who loves to cuddle with his family. Because of his youthful high energy, we decided to give the girls a break and get him another boy as a playmate.
Rusty
Rusty is basically a big, wooly, husky lap-dog. He loves to cuddle and play. He was so happy to see us again when we adopted him that Rusty was literally jumping for joy. He knew he had found his forever home. Despite his sweet disposition, he can be a bit of a drama-queen. This earned him the nickname “princess”. Rusty and Gilroy have become best buddies, but are still competitive in almost all things. When they are not playing and chasing each other, they are usually lying down next to each other. Sweet boys!
